Race 7 August 5th & 6th Baytown, Tx.
You know it was another dangerous race for me. Wow I feel lucky surviving this
season. This time I got a great start and there was 4 of us hitting that first
buoy. I shot to the very sharp inside and when the spray cleared I was headed
right over the back of Rick and I had to lay the ski down. This didnt come easily
and I felt a sharp hot pain to my left shoulder. I was toast. Under the watchful
eye of OKR they all laughed at me and said get it in the 2nd moto. Well I knew
the shoulder was toast and I did give the 2nd moto a try but did not fare to well.
It was a freaky season for me and the end to Havasu Nationals just summed up my
season. I ended up 5th in the region and looking hard at next year as being the
year to come out harder than ever and be the first boat to the first buoy.
Race 6 July 16th Mt. Pleasant, Tx.
Well I almost TBoned another racer that got lost on the course. He flew right
in front of me as I was about to hit the first turn out of the split course. He
shot in front of me so close that it blew the goggles off my helmet. Another pair
of goggles gone gone without a trace. The sad part about that was I had just borrowed
them from a buddy. Now I got to give him 30 bucks to cover them. :[ Everyone on
the beach gasped as I disappeared from sight in the splash of the ski. I held
on through the extreme wash that knocked the seat back from its clasp that holds
it snuggly to the ski and emerged on the other side cutting the next bouy. That
was pretty scary. Not sure what might have happened at that speed but an explosion
is not out of the question.
Race 5 July 2nd Alexandria, La.
I luv this place. We had great rooms and this stop is always a 2 day event. Which
means the races are longer. My class ran motos of 10 laps then 12 laps and after
12 laps there just aint much left. Didnt place as high as I wanted but I did bring
home a 3rd place trophy in Expert 1200 SuperStock Slalom. After the saturday night
races me and JoKeR took off and ran the course on prefectly smooth water. That
really was fun cause usually when we run a course its full of chop
Race 4 June 17th Galveston
Wow what a race... And weekend. I took half a day off Friday so I could scout
out a hotel for us to stay at. We decided on La Quinta and since 7 of us were
going to blitz this room we got the best. We had 3 sets of windows that over looked
the coast. Right next door was the mexican food joint Cadilac Bar. Really good
food there and awesome margaritas. If you stay on Galveston Island you need to
stop by there. The sea was rough saturday morning the waves were topping 8 foot
now when you hit one of those babies going 30 + mph you fly. You couldnt really
go much faster than that because the sea was so rough. Sunday when the pros were
racing one of the skis actually hit the Helicopter that was filming their race
he hit one side of the landing gear. That would be so cool to say you did...:]
The party afterwards was crowded with the bikini contest and all... We also ran
into a couple of the pros and enjoyed their keg between the semis. Those guys
are cool most are in jetski racing cities. Everyone is just out to have a good
time.
Race 3 May 28th Baytown
6/5/00 This was a very weird race for me in many different ways... Some I can
go into... others nope. Well I finally got a trophy for 3rd place and came in
4th in another so Im pretty happy. Well Jerty is dead didnt think he would last
long but he died in peace and not in pieces so thats got to be a plus for him
or her.. Nite Nite Jerty... Anyway Baytown is a very cool place to race because
the lake was built for racing and testing jetskis... No one gonna give us shit
out there. Next race is gonna be on the surf.. Although this is really cool its
also a very serious race. Bad things happen when racers fly over your head in
a 600 lb boat just to hit or miss the next buoy. Joker was impressive this time
out on and off the course. Smacked an asshole in the eye who deserved it and scored
an impressive 2nd place. The joker being true to his name burned my neck with
a car lighter on the way to the race but made things right under pressure by burning
2 circles in his chest. Thanks Joker for making things right. I even went so far
as to have a pool table delivered for the weekend to return it the next week cause
I really dont need one just yet. Well see ya on the coast of Galveston.. Time
to hit the weights hard and cardio too cause the surf aint no mistress to the
skis... See ya...
Race 2 May 14th Lewisville
5/17/00 You know this race sucked for me again... I even sucked at slalom... Kawasaki
Ultra 150 Skis Suck at Racing dont get me wrong they are fun at the lake or ocean
but screw racing them.. at least thats my crutch this time. :) On to cool stuff..
We just moved to the woodlands here in texas and this place rocks. There are concrete
paths all over the place that you can ride bikes, rollerblade or jog through.
So I chose to ride.. Its got to be the coolest town around. But dont get lost
its like Blair Witch Trails if you dont know where your at and no one will tell
you. Believe me I got lost a couple of times. Jeannas new friend Gale found a
really young baby bluejay stranded by its mother on a path and now it sits in
my computer room. If anyone can bring this bird back from the grave you can be
sure its jeanna, that wife of mine could save a whale beached for a week... Well
ive been working out hard on what i call "The Cardio Rider of The Storm" this
is the poor mans jetski. Im dropping the Ultra for the new Polaris 785 Pro Ski
"which happens to be the fastest stock ski ever built" this next race. Although
im not looking to win im just looking to get in a good ride this time. Then we
go for blood. So look for me at the bottom of the list in competition again. Damnit.
lol I will let you know how the bird turns out.. I hope we can keep it alive since
Montana named it "Jerty". I know? what the hell does that mean? I dont know he's
5 and thats what came out when i asked him to name the bird. I kinda like it..
Race 1 April 30th Lewisville
Of course it rained all day. No way should we start our season this early in the
south. Well as I stated in the race day page. The race was not to great for me.
After the handle grip came off during a turn and i plunged into the water I never
fully recovered. Trusting the ski is very important during a race not only to
yourself but to the other racers too. So we glued the grip back on before the
2nd moto but it just didnt feel right and the ski was acting up to so I just went
through the race as good as I could. Well May 14th should be a better race. I
plan on doing the slalom next race too. I will let you know how that goes. Any
way, Im racing expert this year for the first time so things will be a little
difficult at the start. This experience did bring to mind something all racers
should do. Take the time to be fully dressed out helmet and all and be at the
end of your practice session {Somewhere near the shore too} take a fall off your
ski and deal with the feeling of submersion and the heavy equipment. This is an
experience you never want to have for the first time during a race. Try it you
will totally freak out how it feels to the body just trying to get some air. Until
next race... See ya
